Cigar Masterclasses
Explore the fascinating world of cigars at Knightsbridge's best kept secret, The Garden Room, with our team of passionate cigar sommeliers. Taking place every month, discover a different cigar from our range of Cuban and pre-Castro cigars, accompanied by a drink pairing.
The one hour masterclasses include an introduction to Cuban cigars, with particular focus on the origin and history of the cigar featured in that month's event. Taste and smoke the cigar in good company on the heated and covered terrace and ask your cigar sommelier any questions you might have - they will be delighted to share their vast knowledge. After the event, guests are invited to stay on and enjoy drinks, food and cigars from our humidor on the terrace.
The one-hour masterclasses include:
- Meet our cigar sommeliers
- A seated introduction to Cuban cigars as well as an introduction to the cigar of the month itself
- Cigar of the month to taste and smoke
- Drink pairing
- Q & A with our cigar sommelier and the opportunity to learn and develop your taste and knowledge of cigars

Montecristo No2 & Graham’s 30 yo Tawny Port
Montecristo No2 is one of the classic Cuban cigars. It is a medium to full bodied cigar and a ‘piramides’ in shape. It has a typically ‘earthy’ flavour profile which marries perfectly with the sweet toffee-caramel notes of the Grahams 30-Year-Old Tawny port. £150 per person.

Romeo y Julieta Belicoso & Glendronach 18
The Romeo Y Julieta Belicoso is wonderful medium-bodied cigar which gives a slight sweetness when smoked. A ‘Campana’ or ‘torpedo’ in shape, the Belicoso always smokes well, giving a copious amount of smoke. To pair, we have a delicious Glendronach 18-Year-Old Highland malt. Aged only in sherry casks, it takes on an intense but well-rounded flavour with an unrivalled smoothness. £150 per person.

Trinidad Vigia & Dictador XO
Trinidad cigars are named after a town in Cuba, rather than the Caribbean Island. They are medium in strength and draw particularly well giving a creaminess to their flavour. Paired with a simply delicious rum from Colombia, Dictador XO. With its intense caramel, toffee and coffee flavours, this is one of the best rums to pair with a cigar. £135 per person.

Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure No3 & Lakes Galaxia Whisky
The relatively new Epicure No3 is a little different to the very light flavours of the rest of the Epicure range of cigars. It has a slightly fuller flavour with a deliciously slow burn giving a cool and satisfying smoke. Lakes Distillery Galaxia is a revelation; an intense sherry finish with richness but exceedingly smooth at the same time; simply the best English whisky to date. £160 per person.

Partagas Presidentes & Bunnahabain 18yo
An unusual shape, the Presidentes is a ‘double-figurado’, meaning it is tapered at both ends. Cigars of this shape were very popular in the early part of the 20th century and are very difficult to roll consistently. It is a full-bodied smoke and needs a powerful whisky to compliment its rich, slightly spicy flavours. The Bunnahabhain 18 Year Old is a sherry-cask aged whisky produced on the Isle of Islay whose whiskies are usually known for their intense smoky tastes. This does have a little smoke on the finish but a great, rich sweetness to start which compliments the spicy, powerful Presidente. £140 per person.

A hidden oasis tucked away from the bustle of Hyde Park Corner, the Garden Room is The Lanesborough’s, and indeed Knightsbridge’s, best kept secret. Book a table after your cigar masterclass to complete the experience and enjoy our selection of fine Cognacs and Armagnacs, alongside fine foods and an impressive selection of Cuban and pre-Castro cigars presented in the celebrated walk-in humidor.

Seats can be booked online via our online booking tool up to three months in advance, alternatively to make advance bookings please email dining@lanesborough.com or call +44 (0)207 259 5599. Credit card details are required to guarantee your booking, these will be taken at booking stage. A deposit may be applicable and full payment will be taken on the day of the masterclass. No shows or cancellations within 48 hours will be fully charged and are non-refundable.
